Hoop holders
Hand embroidery belongs to the old type of needlework. It was widespread in Slavic culture. Each nationality or even a region was recognized by the embroidered shirts and towels, as they differed in their own patterns, the color of the pattern, and the method of embroidery. The principles of needlework were inherited. During the work, the canvas for embroidery was pulled over the hoop.
Today, everyone does the same, the canvas is fixed on a hoop or on a frame, and for convenience is fixed on a holder. In this article, we will focus specifically on the holders, because thanks to them the second hand is freed up, and the embroidery process is faster and more fun.
Description of species
The word "hoop" is translated as "stretch", "pull tight". The embroidery fabric is pulled over the hoop and frames. With their help, the work is smooth, neat, the threads do not tighten and do not deform the canvas. The fixtures come in a variety of sizes. Small species are easy to hold with one hand, and the other to embroider. And for large canvases, you will need a special device - a machine, a holder.
Factory-made products can be purchased in handicraft stores, their assortment is quite large, but some make their own holders from improvised means that are available in the house or in the garage. Locksmith clamps, old table lamps, clamps from coffee grinders and meat grinders are used.
It should be noted that retaining fastening structures are needed not only for large canvases - many prefer to work with two hands, placing them on top and bottom of the stretched fabric. For such purposes, there are many types of holders designed for work of different sizes.
It is only important to choose the right ones in order to avoid problems with inconvenient fasteners that are unable to support thick frames.
Most devices have a variety of fasteners to help secure the hand hoop, but some come with a fixed round hoop or square frame. In any case, the structures are mobile, they are adjusted to the desired height and angle of inclination.
The difference in the types of holders is noted by the materials from which the device is made, by the methods of fixation and by location. In the latter case, structures are divided into desktop, armchair (sofa) and floor structures. Their use depends on the preferred place of work - sitting at a table, sitting on a sofa or at a machine holding large canvases.

Materials (edit)
In the manufacture of hoop structures, materials such as wood, metal and plastic are used. Plastic clamps from well-known manufacturers are quite reliable and work flawlessly. But the connecting parts of the plastic holder do not stand up to criticism, so many people prefer wooden or iron products. By the way, when working on wooden structures, the annoying effect of sticking of threads is not observed.
To make the holder from available tools, many devices from different materials are used. The machine can be assembled from wooden bars and slats, use clamps or screws from household appliances to fix it, the hoop is fastened with plastic clips or using small screws. They also use movable stands from old table lamps.
