All about sofa embroidery machines
Embroidery is one of the oldest types of needlework. Nowadays, special machines can be purchased for this purpose. In particular, sofa embroidery machines are very popular. There are several varieties of these devices. And when choosing them, you must take into account many features.
Forms and materials
All machines for embroidery can be conditionally divided into 3 large categories: floor, table and sofa. The latter are the most comfortable: working at such a machine, the needlewoman can sit on a sofa or in an armchair. It is noteworthy that such a unit is installed in front of the embroiderer herself, and its legs are located on the outer sides of the thighs. Sofa looms can be round, rectangular or square (meaning the frame itself). Each of them has stable base legs.
The main materials from which the sofa looms are made are wood, metal and plastic. The most popular are wooden models, since it is more convenient to place them on the sofa than others. They are lightweight and stable. The disadvantage is the relatively high cost.
Metal embroidery models for a sofa are practically not produced, since metal itself is not a particularly suitable material. But there are devices for embroidery in which metal elements are actively used. Plastic sofa hoops are inexpensive, very lightweight and at the same time unstable. But even among them, you can find quite decent models. The most important thing is that the plastic is durable.
Dimensions (edit)
As a rule, sofa looms are purchased for embroidery on canvases of different sizes.The dimensions of the standard frame correspond to the following indicators: 30 cm wide and 70 cm long. If the frame is square, then all sides will be the same. In the case of purchasing a round machine, its diameter can be from 30 to 50 cm.
For cross stitching on large canvases, you can order a sofa machine according to individual measurements. It should be noted right away that the cost of such a device will be much higher.
Selection Tips
The main function of the sofa loom is to free the embroiderer's hands during work. If you embroider with a cross on a regular machine, you will have to hold it with one hand and a thread with a needle with the other. The machine is definitely easier to work with.
Before purchasing such a device, it is recommended to determine the size. It is important to immediately decide where exactly the embroiderer will work. Already on this will depend:
- the length of the legs;
- hoop dimensions;
- material of manufacture.
When visiting a store, you should pay attention to the following factors.
- Ease of use of the device. If possible, it is better to try to sit down and put the machine in front of you.
- It is important to check the stability of the structure.
- Of course, if funds allow, then preference should be given either to wooden structures, or to those that were made of durable plastic.
- You should pay attention to the cost.
- The quality of the fittings is also important.
It is better to purchase devices in specialized stores.
You should not buy such things in unverified places, since not only the speed of the embroiderer's work, but also the quality of the embroidery itself depends on the quality of the machine.
