Modern toilet design: design features
The bathroom is as important a part of the house as the rooms and the kitchen. Often, the size of the toilet is quite modest. However, even a small room can be made stylish and cozy if you use current ideas. Consider current trends in bathroom design without a bathtub.
Suspended plumbing
A modern bathroom interior is impossible without a wall-mounted toilet bowl with installation. Interestingly, some of these models are less expensive than expensive floor-standing options. However, they look more advantageous. In addition to the fact that in this case there are no ugly joints, the plumbing itself looks lighter and more elegant. It does not take up space on the floor, which visually expands the area of the room.
It is also worth noting the practicality of such a solution - cleaning becomes simpler and more convenient. You can also fix the brush holder on the wall.
Hatch disguise
A cheap plastic structure covering a wall hatch can ruin any chic renovation. The best solution would be hide the hatch under tiles or furniture doors. In extreme cases, you can close it with a picture, a photo in a frame or a panel.
Of course, such a decor item should harmoniously fit into the overall interior.
Window decoration
In modern apartments, the toilet window is rarely seen. If there is one, the easiest way to arrange it is to install blinds or a roll structure. In a classic interior or Provence style, a fabric curtain is acceptable. It is possible not to cover the glass with anything at all.
It all depends on the location of the window and the personal preferences of the home owners.
Material texture
The best material for finishing a toilet room is still tile. However, kits that include the same medium-sized tiles in two colors and ornamented borders are a thing of the past. At the peak of popularity, ceramics imitating natural materials (wood, concrete, stone).
Combinations of tiles of different types look interesting. They are actively used in the design of large-sized models, variants of an unusual shape (for example, in the form of hexagons). Black and white or gray and white patchwork is allowed. The "hog" and the mosaic have already become classics.
The latter is especially relevant in cases when it is necessary to arrange rounded surfaces and walls of broken irregular shape.
Color spectrum
It is worth considering that in a small confined space, a design in light colors (pale gray, beige) will be more successful. Of course, you can add contrasting details to make the interior more expressive, but you should not mix a large number of colors in the design of a small room.
In addition to the color of the plumbing (usually white), no more than 2 shades are allowed. The exception is halftones of the same color, which do not stand out, but smoothly flow into each other.
The most spectacular is black and white combination. At the same time, the design does not have to be austere and boring. With the right approach, the interior can become unusual and expressive. The combination of white and gray looks perfect in the toilet.
If this range seems impersonal and cold to you, you can add brown or beige tones to the design.
Bright shades are acceptable... However, decorating the toilet walls with blue, pink, or bright purple tiles will look a little dated. Contrasting combinations (for example, black or white with yellow) are in fashion. Dusty tones of pistachio, olive, lavender also look good. Luxurious shade of "coffee with milk" in combination with white, mint, dark brown.
Styles
If the interior of the entire apartment is designed in a certain style, the bathroom should not stand out from the general picture.
- Scandinavian style these are snow-white walls interspersed with gray or black colors. You can freshen up the design with small yellow elements. Coziness can be added by a woven rug and wooden doors that hide the hatch.
- Eco-direction - this is necessarily a wood imitation. The beige-brown range with the addition of juicy greens is relevant here.
- Classic - these are restrained tones (beige, brown, gray, etc.). The decor can be small pictures in frames.
- Minimalism welcomes the pure contrast of black and white. Monochrome design also looks good (for example, gray stone decoration with snow-white plumbing). Always a good option - a beige design with elements of the color of dark chocolate. As a decor, you can use black and white photos under glass.
- Into loft aesthetics imitation of concrete or wood will fit perfectly. In a small space, dark surfaces can be combined with large white porcelain stoneware.
Maximum convenience
If possible, be sure to install it in the toilet a small hanging sink... If space permits, you can place closed cabinets for household chemicals and other items under the washbasin.
Having a water source improves hygiene by allowing a person to wash their hands without touching doorknobs or wasting time in the bathroom.
It is advisable to place a mirror above the sink. This will allow not only to put yourself in order if necessary, but also visually expand the room. Do not forget about a bottle of liquid soap, a towel. All of these elements can also become design touches that emphasize the features of the interior.
For example, in minimalism, a mirror may not have a frame at all. In the classics, a metal twisted frame is acceptable. Both the shape of the tap, the shelf (if any) and the towel holder should match the style. The shell itself may have an unusual shape.
Errors
- Do not decorate a small bathroom in dark shades. Black, brown or dark gray walls in a narrow space will have a "crushing" effect.
- Vertical stripes on the walls of a cramped room are a bad idea. They will visually make it even narrower.
- Do not overuse small details in a small space. Wall lights combined with vases and other decorative elements can create a cluttered feel.
