Stilettos

The weapon of a real woman is stiletto heels, and it's hard to argue with that. Such shoes not only give young ladies a few centimeters of height, but also give incredible sexuality, femininity and charm, which always attract the eyes and excite men. Even in the wardrobe of women who don’t wear heels, there is sure to be a pair “on the way out” - luxurious stilettos that make you feel like a fatal seducer. These shoes will never go out of style. Hairpin height, color or material may change, but the essence remains the same.

Features and Benefits

A stiletto heel is a thin heel based on a metal rod that can be covered with various materials. The height of such a heel is from 9 to 12 centimeters on average, but there are also models of "dizzying height" - from 15 centimeters and above. As a rule, these shoes also have a platform. Classic stiletto heels have a neat rounded toe, but a long, pointed, open sock is in vogue every now and then (the cutout can be either tiny or open three or four fingers).

Among high-heeled shoes, it is the stiletto heels that have held the leading position for years. This is due to the fact that they look very elegant, make the image graceful and feminine, and fit almost any outfit. In addition, stiletto heels make a woman's gait smooth and sexy, as well as visually make her legs longer and slimmer. In general, shoes with thin heels transform a woman - posture becomes royal, the bust is straightened, and the hips become very seductive. The young ladies found out all these advantages for themselves many years ago.

High-heeled shoes - the progenitors of modern stilettos, were worn in the middle of the 16th century. Then shoes up to twenty centimeters high spoke of a person's high social status, and the higher the heel was, the higher the position of the owner of such shoes was. By the way, both women and men wore heels. True, these shoes were uncomfortable and the fashionable public experienced a lot of suffering putting them on.

In the 18th century - the era of chic and luxury in everything, stiletto heels were very popular at the court of Louis XVI in France. The heels of French noble ladies were so high that they could only move with a cane or with the help of maids. It was hard not to notice in the crowd of noble ladies, since they were head and shoulders above everyone else. Obeying fashion, the young ladies were ready to move at a truly snail's speed - the high heel did not allow them to walk faster. However, soon such shoes lost popularity, since balls took a large share of social entertainment, and it was absolutely impossible to dance on high heels.

In the 19th century, the first shoes, similar to modern stilettos, were put on by the muse of the French designer Andre Perugia, the singer Mistinguet. She was a style icon for her contemporaries and the shoes quickly won the admiration of other women. Perugia is still considered the inventor of the classic stiletto heel - he came up with the idea to create a thin heel with a metal bar inside. Another designer who created stiletto heels at the same time is the Italian Roger Vivier. He preferred to make shoes with luxurious, artsy designs, which favored wealthy customers. Those, in turn, delighted ordinary townspeople, and every lady dreamed of having stilettos in her shoe cabinet.

For over ten years, Vivier worked with Christian Dior. The famous designer believed that a graceful, high heel was the best frame for his clothes. In the middle of the century, Dior's models first took to the catwalk in the shoes of this Vivier. Fashion historians note that it was on the stilettos from Roger Vivier that Elizabeth II arrived at the coronation.

Another significant figure is Salvatore Ferragamo, an Italian who at the same time created a collection of stiletto heels. The shoe designer's clients included Mary Pickford, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

Of course, the shoes worn by such recognized style icons were soon wanted by every woman in the world. In the late 60s and early 70s, stiletto heels were not only at the peak of popularity, but also dictated how the female image in general should look like. Then young ladies in high heels appeared on the streets of cities every day, and high heels were then considered absolutely everyday.

Nowadays, when it is important for women to be mobile and energetic, stiletto heels, of course, are no longer shoes for every day. But on a solemn occasion, every second young lady puts on exactly them.

Models

There are several types of stiletto heels that range from classic to modern. First of all, they differ in the height of the hairpin itself. A model with a heel of 10-12 centimeters is considered a classic. There are also everyday stilettos - a thin heel in this case may not exceed 5 centimeters. Avant-garde models, where the hairpin goes in combination with the platform, allow a height of up to 20 centimeters. In this case, the platform can be either hidden or be part of the entire sole.

The pin itself can be covered with the same material as the shoe itself, then the model has the same color. But it is not uncommon to find stilettos in which the heel differs in color (for example, the legendary stilettos from Christian Louboutin), it can be metallic (gold or silver).

Classic stiletto heels do not have fasteners, but models with straps appear in collections every year. The clasp can fit the ankle or go above the toes. Models that emphasize graceful ankles are very popular with girls with long, slender legs.

Also popular are models with a "neckline" that open one or more fingers. An open toe looks touching but sexy at the same time, and designers offer cutouts for every taste - from a tiny droplet to a rather large one that opens two or three fingers. It is important not to forget that an impeccable pedicure is required for this type of hairpins, and you should not wear tights or stockings under them.

Closed toe studs come in a variety of shapes. The nose can be slightly pointed, rounded or slightly raised. In the 90s, stilettos with an elongated toe were at the height of fashion, but now they are difficult to find on sale, since they visually increase even a small foot.

Popular colors

Initially, stiletto heels had a very limited color range, and black was considered the main and most "popular" color. Later, in the 80s, colored hairpins became very popular, and the shades were both fairly neutral and neon, ultra-bright.

Currently, in addition to black hairpins, there are several more popular colors. One of them is beige. Nude stilettos are great for everyday wear with any ensembles of clothing, and for going out. Flesh-colored hairpins practically merge with the skin, therefore visually lengthen the legs even more, which is important for short young ladies. Many women love pink stilettos - from a delicate shade of a tea rose to a rich fuchsia color. Such shoes allow you to create a somewhat puppet image, very feminine and romantic.

White stiletto heels are a wonderful addition to summer clothes. Such shoes will look great with a dress or a sundress of both bright and pastel colors, but boiling white sets on tanned skin look simply amazing! Blue stilettos look good both in summer and at other times of the year. They will perfectly fit both a look in a fashionable nautical theme, and go well with jeans, as well as business suits or evening dresses.

Scarlet stiletto heels are the choice of bold and self-confident women. Such shoes, perhaps, are not suitable for every day, but they will be a chic addition to a festive look. At the same time, red shoes can be worn not only with a dress of the same color, but also choose a more neutral companion for them - black clothes, gray or beige. Luxurious red stiletto heels look with evening overalls, as well as with dresses just above the knee.

Stilettos brown or gray - an option for young ladies who love versatile shoes that fit any outfit. Such hairpins can be worn both in the office and for a gala evening. Hairpins silver or golden colors are invariably popular when it comes to a party. These shoes will be great with a cocktail dress or fancy jumpsuit. For a trip to a nightclub, you can choose models with sequins, rhinestones or sequins, which will help create a dynamic and bright image.

Hairpins in bright or, on the contrary, pastel colors are good for summer ensembles; light jeans, light dresses and skirts made of chiffon or silk will look great with them. Another trend of the new year is stilettos with prints. It can be a cell, peas, stripes, floral or animal patterns.

Materials (edit)

The most popular materials for stiletto heels are natural. Since the comfort and quality of the pair determines how long and how comfortable the girl can wear the shoes, it is best to opt for leather or suede. For summer, you can choose models made of perforated leather, in which it is not hot due to the many holes.

For a special occasion, you can purchase a pair of patent leather or python or crocodile leather. In the office, as well as for an evening party, you can wear hairpins made of natural suede. Well, for an event where you need to be irresistible, hairpins made of expensive fabrics: brocade, lace, satin or velvet are suitable. These shoes are of course only suitable for indoor use, but they look great!

Fashion trends

The freshest trend that has firmly established itself on the most fashionable catwalks in the world is stiletto heels with a hidden platform. In such a model, the leg feels comfortable, the height of the heel is not so felt, and a woman who has tried on such a pair can literally turn her head!

Another trend that is at the peak of popularity is open-toed stilettos. The tiny droplet neckline looks very seductive, and it doesn't feel as hot in these shoes as in fully closed ones. Designers try not to overload such hairpin models with unnecessary decor or complex color nuances. The slim silhouette is so good it doesn't require anything else.

In the new season, designers have opted for clean, cheerful colors. Super-fashionable will be suede stilettos in turquoise, lemon, pink, colors. A contrasting heel, metal or even with a bright print, will be relevant, despite the fact that the shoe itself will be monochromatic.

Designers will also present stiletto heels with various inserts - fine mesh and lace will be very fashionable in the spring-summer season.

What to wear with?

It is not for nothing that the girls are waiting for the first pair of stiletto heels with special trepidation - these are shoes on which you still need to learn how to walk. To look spectacular, you need to work out a gait that does not show at all how difficult it is to balance on high heels.

It takes practice to easily wear even 20cm stilettos. It is best to study at home or in another room where the floor is flat and non-slip. You need to put on hairpins for a while, for example, for a couple of hours in the evening. Stylists advise first to learn how to calmly wear shoes with more stable heels, and when it seems as familiar as a flat sole, move on to a thin stiletto heel.

When walking indoors will be easy, you need to gradually go outside. You should not rush, you need to walk in short and smooth steps, without bending your knees. Before going out on heels "into the light", you should make sure that you are walking at the right speed without excitement and stress, ready for unevenness on the road and slippery surfaces, steps.

The next step is to choose clothes for the hairpins. Perhaps it is strictly forbidden to wear them only with sportswear. An overly short dress or miniskirt, as well as stockings, the elastic of which is visible from under the hem, will be considered bad form.

Business suits, both trouser and with a skirt, look great with stilettos. It can be a pencil skirt, "tulip", "sun".

Dresses look great with such shoes - from office "cases" to frivolous summer bustiers.

The most luxurious option is a floor-length evening dress.

Stylists, in principle, advise wearing high heels for the occasion, since in everyday life such shoes not only look too chic, but can also negatively affect health. The constant wearing of high heels hurts the legs, so it is optimal to wear stiletto heels no more than two to three times a week. It is believed that a stiletto heel up to five centimeters in height can be considered everyday, about seven centimeters is an acceptable option for the office, and any heel that is higher is recommended to be reserved for celebration.

How to choose?

In order for a new pair of stiletto heels to bring only joy, you should pay attention to some criteria when buying. Correctly chosen shoes will allow you to easily walk in them for several hours.

The first and very important point is the sole of the stiletto heels. It should not be smooth and slippery, because it is simply dangerous to walk in such shoes. The second caveat is the weight of the shoe. A high-quality pair will be practically weightless, since eminent manufacturers do not use outdated materials, and if the pins have a platform, then it is hollow inside. It will be difficult to walk in heavy shoes with high heels.

When trying on stiletto heels, you need to carefully consider the following points:

  • Balance. Put on your shoes and bend forward a little. If you lose your balance and are about to fall, this pair is not for you: most likely, the shoes have an incorrectly rounded toe.
  • Comfort. If you put on both shoes, get up and feel that the shoes are pressing on your toes or your calves are cramping, you should refuse to buy.
  • Stability. Place your feet about shoulder-width apart or even wider. If your legs begin to "break" inward, choose a different model. In such shoes, you can injure your ankles.
  • Gait. Be sure to go shopping with your chosen pair. If you cannot walk the distance you are accustomed to, but start to mince, then this heel is too high for you.
  • And the last - even the most luxurious hairpins should be discarded if you are uncomfortable wearing them. Such shoes are completely unsuitable for frequent wearing, and if you choose a pair for a celebration, then it can be spoiled by the fact that you will not be able to take a step without effort on yourself.
