If the sealant gets on the surrounding objects during work, then it is quite difficult to rectify the situation. Many people are wondering how to remove polyurethane foam. There are various effective ways. The choice of method should be based on the coating material.

It is quite difficult to wipe off old dried polyurethane foam - it is better to wash it off immediately.

They can be cleaned using the methods described below.

There are 2 options to consider. The first is when the foam has not had time to freeze, and the second, where the foam has already frozen.

In the first situation, you can remove the foam using a spatula, a wooden stick and other available means. The remaining particles can be collected with an ordinary soft sponge or with a special solvent. Cured foam cannot be removed in this way. A specially designed cleaner can help here.

• Special solvents mentioned earlier... You can buy them at various hardware stores. They should be used in a situation where mechanical abrasion has not yielded results.

It is important to note that no matter which cleaning method you choose, this process is quite tedious and does not always give the desired result.

Below are some guidelines that can help with the installation process using sealant.

It is important to remember that not every type of surface can be safely removed with a solvent for uncured sealant. For example, the use of a cleaner is strictly prohibited when it comes to varnished or painted surfaces. In the first case, the solvent will surely erase the existing varnish layer, and in the second, light spots will be formed.

Based on this, before starting to erase the polyurethane foam, you should take into account the fact that the reaction to the solvent at the treated surface can be different.

To do this, apply a small amount of the product to an inconspicuous area and leave it on for a while.

If there is a choice, wipe off fresh polyurethane foam or wait until it dries, then you must definitely choose the first option, since it will cause minimal damage to the surface or not harm it at all. If the moment is missed and now it is necessary to literally "tear off" the polyurethane foam, then you should use the methods below to help get rid of the cured sealant:

• you can use the previously presented method using vegetable oil;
• use the unique Dimexid product - it is able to cope with solid polyurethane foam;
• in the event that the surface is not smooth, you can use a blade or sandpaper.

When purchasing a sealant, you can immediately buy cleaners designed for hardened and still unhardened foam, while you should choose a solution of the same brand. This is due to the fact that each polyurethane foam has its own characteristics, which are taken into account by the manufacturer when developing a cleaner, because a "native" product in any situation will be more effective than others.

It is imperative to follow the basic safety rules: cleaning should be carried out in a well-ventilated area, wearing protective clothing and wearing gloves. It is necessary to ensure that the used product does not get on the skin or eyes.
