All curtain fabrics can be divided into two large groups - artificial and natural. Within these hugely diverse groups, each fabric requires special care, sometimes unacceptable for another type of material.

Consider the most popular materials for curtains and the recommended temperature conditions for the iron with them.

• It is easy to iron curtains made of natural linen, as long as they are slightly damp. The temperature can be set as high as possible.
• Polyester and viscose curtains are very easy to clean, but cannot stand the touch of an iron hotter than 150 degrees (one dot on the indicator). It is better to iron from the wrong side.

• Organza, tulle and chiffon curtains can do without an iron if you hang them without wringing out immediately after washing. But if the folds are still formed, they can be smoothed out at the lowest possible temperature, always through damp gauze or a sheet of tracing paper.
• Silk or taffeta is ironed without steaming from the inside out at a temperature not exceeding 150 ° C.
• Heavy velvet or velor must be wrapped in a damp terry towel so that the pile dries in one direction.It is better to iron these capricious aristocratic curtains dry, from the inside out, without strong pressure of the sole of the iron on the fabric, without steaming.
• If there is embroidery on the curtain, then while ironing it should be moistened with water and ironed from the inside out.

Before ironing material of unknown composition, you need to test the operation of the iron on a small area of ​​the wrong side. It is necessary to start with low temperatures of the sole, gradually increasing it. Feeling the difficulty of sliding the iron, you should slightly reduce the temperature regime.

Irons with a steamer are lighter in weight and can be used for vertical ironing of curtains, releasing steam at a short distance from the fabric.

The difficulty of vertical steaming of curtains with an iron lies in the large areas of material. It is not convenient for everyone to straighten large-sized curtains by weight. Vertical steaming is suitable for selectively smoothing crumpled curtains made of velvet, organza, linen and cotton, natural and artificial silk, nylon. Vertical method is not recommended for chiffon, polyester, header.

Due to the high price and bulkiness, you rarely see it in an ordinary apartment, it is purchased for laundries, cleaning companies. By the way, you can use their services at home if you don't want to iron the curtains yourself.

• Does the ironing process of curtains scare you because of their large area? This trick will help you quickly deal with them: iron the top of the curtains to about halfway, then hang them on the window and start ironing the rest of the curtains.
• A couple of chairs or stools on which you need to fold the ironed fabric will help to avoid wrinkling of the already ironed sections of the fabric. The chairs will be able to replace the roller, onto which the ironed part is gradually wound.
• A curtain with complex tailoring should be started from the edging, then proceed to the ruffles and lining.

• It is better to start the ironing process from the top corner and work your way down.
• If several creases are visible after the curtains are hung, you can spray them with water. In an upright state, under their weight, they can straighten out.
• Curtains made of natural linen and cotton can do without an iron. After washing, you just need to hang them wet. If the curtains are too wet, an absorbent cloth or towel should be placed on the floor.

• from mixed synthetic and natural fabrics;
