How to clean the shower stall from limescale?
Today, many people prefer to install shower cabins in their own bathrooms, rather than annoying bathtubs. If you figure it out, then it makes sense. The shower stall significantly saves water consumption. It also reduces the time that a modern person spends on their own hygiene. Washing a bath is easy, and everyone knows how to do it. With the booth, everything is a little more complicated.
Design
This structure consists of different parts made from different materials:
- Walls. Typically, these parts are made of glass;
- Pens. Chromium is used for their manufacture;
- Pallet. Most often made from acrylic.
From this it follows that for each material you will need to select its own cleaning agent. Remember to clean all surfaces carefully to avoid scratching or chipping. We will talk in more detail about the high-quality cleaning of the booth further.
Peculiarities
As mentioned earlier, the main difficulty in cleaning is the complex design of the shower cubicle. It must be cleaned all over, starting with the pallet and paying attention to the attachments. Sometimes it is not quite easy to do this, as it might seem at first glance. But too much "bother" is also not worth it, because you can always find the most optimal option that you will like.
If you do not systematically clean the walls of the shower stall, as well as the acrylic tray and chrome taps, as well as other parts of this (rather complex) structure, you will soon discover that cleaning it at home is difficult, and sometimes almost impossible. ...
That is why it is worth paying close attention to this issue.
Light cleaning and general cleaning should be done regularly. This way, your shower cubicle will always shine with dazzling cleanliness. With good care, it will last you much longer.
First of all, you need to know that all the cabins are really diverse and it depends only on you what your model will be. Structures are produced that have 4 glass walls. They are also sometimes made of plastic. Other options can simply be located near the wall. That is why 2 of 4 walls will be tiled. It is necessary to figure out exactly which surfaces you will need to clean, and how to wash the shower stall. This way you will speed up your work.
In addition, you need to know that the bathroom is the warmest place with high humidity... It is in this room that black mold can form. She, of course, thoroughly spoils the appearance of the structure, and is also dangerous to the health of all family members. In order to prevent its spread, it is necessary to carefully observe the order in the bathroom, and after taking a shower, you need to ventilate the room and the booth. The procedure should last at least two hours.
When cleaning, you need to pay close attention to the various nooks and crannies. Be sure to wipe the tile joints. Mold most often forms in the most unexpected places and during cleaning it is necessary to look there first.
How to keep it clean?
For the work to be of high quality, you need to do everything on time, thoroughly and accurately. If you clean it regularly and correctly, the shower will shine. And if you always and in everything follow the rules for caring for such an important thing, remove dirt, plaque and mold that has appeared in time, then you can avoid many health problems.
Start cleaning
First of all, you need to pay attention to the doors and walls. They can be glass or plastic. Glass is quite resistant to the use of household chemicals, so the choice of quality products for caring for it is very wide.
Cleaning of plastic walls should be carried out as often as possible., because the structure of the plastic is such that it becomes coated faster. Use a polyurethane scraper and sponge, microfiber, special care products.
If the booth fits snugly against the tile wall, then the next step is to thoroughly wash it. There are many ceramic cleaners available at the store. Many of them will do, because the tiles are unpretentious. It easily tolerates acid-base media and abrasives. When choosing a tile for walls, it is better to opt for a glossy one, because there will be much less opportunity for dirt and microbes to accumulate on it.
Cleaning of metal products
The next step will be the cleaning of all chrome-plated metal products, from which taps, showers, faucets and various accessories are often made. On them, limescale forms quickly, having an unattractive appearance. In this case, it is worth abandoning abrasives and using more gentle means, because such metal is easy to scratch. You can ruin an expensive item.
Be very careful when removing plaque from painted or laminated aluminum. Careful handling and the right choice of product will increase the service life of your plumbing.
Pallet care
It is necessary to pay as much attention as possible to the pallet, because all the pollution flows down there, and during bathing they become barefoot on it. This means that you need to make sure that it is perfectly clean. Mold often appears on the walls of the pallet. It must be removed immediately.
Pallet maintenance largely depends on what material it is made of. Acrylic trays can be scratched easily. They are susceptible to erosion and can deform, so care must be taken when choosing a cleaning agent.Enamelled surfaces are resistant, but special substances should be purchased for them. For cleaning ceramics, use the same products as for tiles. But stone pallets are the least whimsical and very easy to clean.
Splashes of water, toothpaste or shampoo may appear on any surface of the booth. They should be wiped off immediately with a soft cloth until they dry. It is necessary to ventilate the bathroom more often so that the stall dries faster after water procedures.
If you follow these simple rules, take a responsible approach to the choice of detergents and cleaning agents, you can always keep the shower stall clean and extend its service life for many years.
Folk remedies
Before you spend money on expensive household cleaning products, look at safer and more natural folk methods. The advantage of this method in comparison with chemistry, including their environmental friendliness, is that they do not require large expenses and some of the necessary components are almost always found in the house.
Lemon solution
Citric acid removes rust and plaque well. To cleanse the shower with acid or lemon juice you need to make a special solution according to this recipe:
- dilute a sachet of acid or lemon juice in half a glass of water;
- pour the solution into a spray bottle;
- spray the entire cab surface evenly.
After softening the dirt for 10 minutes, wash it off with cool water. If after these actions the plaque still remains, then it is necessary to increase the proportions of the acid solution and add a couple of lemons or a whole package of acid to the same amount of water.
Toothpaste
Tooth powder is considered an effective surface cleaner.
However, for a shower, it is better to use toothpaste, since it does not contain abrasive particles that can damage the smooth surface.
It is quite easy to treat the surface: just apply the product to problem areas and rub with a loofah. For stubborn dirt, apply the paste and leave it on for a while, then remove with a sponge.
Soda and hydrogen peroxide
This pair is excellent at dealing with new mildew in cab corners and plaque. Sprinkle the contaminated area with baking soda and wait half an hour. Then you need to rub this area with a sponge, pour soda with peroxide and leave to dry.
Acetic solution and ammonia
To cleanse the shower from all types of plaque using vinegar, dissolve it in water in a 1: 1 ratio. Fill the treated area with this composition for half an hour, then rinse everything with cold water.
Brilliantly removes soap streaks with ammonia.
The tool is used specifically on dirt, however, for a greater cleaning effect, it should be used together with soda or vinegar.
For a recipe for old dirt, you need a mixture of half a glass of ammonia, 2 liters of water and a tablespoon of baking soda and vinegar.
Liquids containing alcohol
Ethyl alcohol is most effective in cleaning glass surfaces from limescale. For the detergent composition you need dilute vodka or alcohol with water in a 1: 2 ratio. In addition to glass, this solution also perfectly cleans chrome-plated appliances.
Coca-cola
This carbonated drink has long been known as a folk remedy, effective in removing limescale as well as rust. To clean the surface of the shower, you need to fill the treated area with cola, wait half an hour and thoroughly rinse everything off with cool water.
It is very easy to clean the limescale with the recommended folk remedies. Such solutions will cost you much less and will be quite effective.
