How can you use an old bathtub in your summer cottage?

A summer cottage often becomes a warehouse of old, disused things, especially after repairs in the apartment. Replacing the old bathtub, it is temporarily moved to the suburban area, but soon another problem appears - the thing spoils the look of a well-kept garden or gets in the way of the garden.

So, at the dacha there is an old cast iron bathtub, which spoils the look of the backyard, in addition, the thing is of decent size. Should I throw it away or should I think about how to rationally use the product, making it attractive and even functional - let's figure it out.

Of course, you can get rid of the container that has lost its presentation, handing it over to scrap metal, or it is practical to do it, if possible, by updating the plumbing attribute. However, it makes sense to think about the benefits that a thing can bring specifically at the summer cottage, and personally implement interesting ideas.

It makes sense to use a bath not only as a flower garden - it can be used more efficiently, for example, do it yourself create a garden out of it. For this, coarse sand, pieces of broken brick, pebbles are placed on the bottom as drainage. Rotted compost and garden soil with mineral fertilizers are laid on top. You can plant zucchini and cucumbers; to create greenhouse conditions, you will need to build small supports on which agrofibre or other covering material should be fixed.

An unnecessary bathtub will make an excellent sofa that you can leave on the site or decorate the veranda or living room in the house with it. Such furniture will look spectacular if it is properly designed. But first you need to carefully cut off one of the side walls of the container.

In addition, having cut the bath into three parts, you can make a small table and two garden chairs out of them, decorating them similarly to a sofa, and equip an impromptu table with a glass top.

You can apply this practical idea, if you have the skill to work with an angle grinder, because, despite a certain strength, cast iron is a very brittle metal. You need to trim it so that you get two cameras. You will also have to install a chimney and an equipment stand.

• having chosen a place, you will need to dig a ditch corresponding to the size of the bath, taking into account that it is completely dug into the ground, and its edges are at ground level.
• after placing the tank in a ditch, the drain point should be securely plugged - for this, a wooden cork wrapped in cloth is suitable.

There are alternative options for how to use and arrange the old plumbing in an original way.

• Exclusive bath lounger done similarly to a sofa, table and chairs. But at the same time, 3 sides of the product are cut off. You can decorate it with mosaics and tiles, paint with acrylic paint, placing a mattress and a pillow at the head on top.

• For a large garden, regular watering is always important., and disused plumbing can be useful for settling water. If you turn on imagination and beautifully beat the container, then it will also become an additional decoration.

• Using an attribute like flower garden, it is not necessary to install it evenly - the bath can be tilted slightly, and then it will seem that the flowers are literally pouring out of it in a lush stream.

• From an old tank you can make funny and functional crafts and garden figures - for this, you need to put the container on long legs, fix the muzzle of the animal (cow, zebra) to one of the edges, and place a small flower bed with marigolds and pansies inside.

• Waterfall or fountain using a bathtub dug into the ground and several bright decorative elements - grass, stones, animal figurines and clay vases, it will create a pleasant atmosphere and refresh on hot summer days.

• In the heat, you can use the old font (of course, not leaky) for its intended purpose - it will be pleasant to lie down in cool water in the fresh air in a specially equipped place on the territory of the house.It is enough to place the bathtub in a wooden box with sides. When placing bed crops, additional holes must be made in the bottom of the tank. Otherwise, plant roots may rot due to moisture stagnation.
• If an artificial pond is being built, the spent font should be placed just below ground level - this will make it easier to decorate with stones, tiles, planting plants. In this case, you do not need to paint the inside of the bath, since particles of earth, dust, plant residues will settle on its walls, and soon the bottom of the reservoir will acquire a natural color. You can skip the autumn drainage of water if you put 3 plastic bottles with sand in an impromptu pond.
• An artificial pond usually requires a good sealing of the drain, but in the case of a children's pool, the opening does not need to be tightly closed. Under it, you can dig a small depression and lay drainage in it - this will exclude the presence of dirty water after swimming.
