Bathroom decoration in the style of minimalism
Minimalism is one of the most practical styles that has become widespread today. This is due to the fact that in order to create a stylish bathroom, it does not require a huge amount of space and pretentious things. Minimalism is simplicity and functionality. Very often this style is used in bathrooms, where in a small area it is necessary to arrange as many items with a functional load as possible.
Features of minimalism in the interior
As with all design directions, minimalism has its own characteristics. But unlike other styles, minimalism is aimed at simplicity and maximum free space. This is one of the most practical styles - it assumes the presence in the room of only those interior items that perform any function. There should be as little or no decorative elements that eat up space.
Therefore, for a bathroom, where many things are often stored, minimalism is suitable only if there are different cabinets or drawers for the bathroom, allowing you to hide various trifles.
As stated, this style requires free space. Therefore, if you want a minimalistic bathroom, you should take into account that a huge number of tubes and bottles will have to be constantly disassembled, otherwise you will get the impression of bad taste and "stuffiness" of the space. Discard all bulky objects - they will only "eat up" the space. Pay attention to the elegant furniture and plumbing.
A good example is a built-in toilet, a wall-hung sink, disguising all plumbing interchanges behind fake cover panels. The same applies to decor - there should be a minimum of it, without framed paintings, printed photographs or tabletop figurines.
It is better to choose 1-2 things that create a bright accent, and limit yourself to this.
Minimalism involves simple, understated geometric shapes. The most commonly used shapes are triangle, square or rectangle. An exception can be made only for the bath - a model with slightly rounded edges or an oval shape will fit well into the interior. Pay attention to small details of plumbing, such as taps or shower heads, because an incorrectly chosen shape can ruin the whole experience.
Preference should also be given to simple, strict forms. The same applies to the texture of the finish - avoid embossed coatings or, if absolutely nothing without it, choose something with a barely noticeable pattern or light roughness. Desirable so that all materials for walls, floors and ceilings are smooth.
To save space, you can combine several functions in one item. For example, instead of a shower stall that takes up a lot of space, you can make a built-in hinged hose on the wall, providing a place for a drain. In order not to destroy the impression of severity, you can refuse wall lamps by purchasing an illuminated mirror. If a small mirror is enough for you, it makes sense to look at wall cabinets with mirrored doors. In order for the plumbing to take up as little space as possible, pay attention to the options built into the walls.
Minimalism involves the use of 1-2 accessories, but allows you to play with the materials of the walls, ceiling and floor. A good option is to use materials of the same color, but different textures. The suspended ceiling will also fit perfectly into this setting. Materials that are often used to create this style: glass, metal and ceramic coatings, stone, granite, marble. It should be understood that all these materials must be of high quality and durable, so it makes sense to find the highest quality options, even if they cost a little more than the usual, but of low quality.
Don't dwell on one thing - combine different textures with each other.
The main colors of this style are black and white.... Most of the interiors are done in these colors. But all shades of gray, beige, sand, pastel shades, brown and blue also look good. As an accent, you can use red, dark purple and other colors that contrast with the main tone of the interior. For a small bathroom, it is better to use white or light colors - they visually expand the space and make it freer.
Dark colors can also expand the space, but only due to well-placed accents, which are quite difficult to choose. Do not limit your imagination and design the entire bathroom in one color tone. Combine several shades or colors, but remember that there should be no more than 3 tones in the interior. One of the best options is to use 2 colors.
Bathroom design options
Bathroom in black
To avoid the seeming pile-up of objects, it is worth giving up large plumbing - huge bathtubs, showers and wide sinks. For an interior option in black colors, you need to purchase plumbing as small as possible. Mirrors with a frame in a different color can also save the day. It will look good as accents of light brown (woody) and gray (ash) colors.
This option uses absolutely smooth textures and accents in light brown. The black bathroom in our time is one of the most popular options. If suddenly the bathroom creates a gloomy impression, you can correct this with both colored accents and well-chosen lighting. It is worth giving preference to wall lamps that create diffused light - it will be more comfortable this way. A ceiling chandelier will not have this effect.
Snow white bathroom
A win-win for a small space. If snow-white interiors do not suit you, then use a combination of white and complementary shades of gray. For example, you can make one wall in gray - this will relieve the feeling of hospital sterility. But when using the option with a contrasting wall it is necessary to minimize the presence of other accent accessories, and it is better to refuse them.
In addition, bathrooms and other styles are often performed in boiling white tones. This is because white is associated with purity. Another advantage of a white bathroom is that it is difficult to overload it with accessories.
But it is still not worth getting carried away, it is enough to get by with original taps, a lamp of an interesting shape, whether by plants - live or artificial.
Contrast bathroom
This is a very common option. Most often, the classic version of black and white is used, but other combinations are also possible. In this case a contrasting wall is allowed, in combination with other accessories and accents, but only if the wall is monochrome, for example, solid black.
In this example, the plumbing is positioned in such a way as to emphasize the existing contrast: there is a white bathroom against a black wall, white niche decoration. And on the white wall, opposite, there is a black shelf. Additional accessories in other colors can be used to soften the stark contrast a bit.
Do not get carried away and use saturated colors such as blue, red, yellow, orange and others as the main ones. These are too bright, flashy shades. A long stay in such a bathroom will tire you and will not give you the opportunity to relax. But these tones are well suited for the role of accents in a room where any of the calm neutral colors is the main one.
