Maxxis is one of the largest bicycle tire brands owned by a Taiwanese company. Products are presented in more than 170 countries around the world.

Features and characteristics

Maxxis bicycle tires are of very high quality, because they undergo strict control in production, where they test not only finished products, but also computer models. Such a multilevel check absolutely excludes all possible defects and shortcomings. The tires of this brand are installed on many bicycles, they are especially relevant for models that are used in extreme cycling races. Today the assortment includes more than 100 models of bicycle tires. Several of the latest technologies developed by Maxxis are used for their production:

  • Silkworm;
  • Kevlar Composite;
  • 3C;
  • Exo Protection;
  • L. U. S. T .;
  • Maxx Protect Overdrive.

Silkworm uses exclusively patented material, thanks to which the tire acquires greater resistance to various influences, including breakouts and wear. At the same time, the products do not lose their driving characteristics, that is, the rotation of the wheels remains the same. Kevlar is mainly used in general purpose and road tires. It is flexible and lightweight, but at the same time quite durable. These characteristics make tires with this technology ideal for high-speed bicycles.

3C is the latest development of the brand, this technology (triple compound) makes it possible to produce tires that are distinguished by wear resistance and excellent adhesive properties.

Mountain bike tires with this technology are characterized by good braking and easy passing even tight turns... Exo Protection tires are used primarily on mountain bikes, as this technology significantly strengthens the sides of the tires, making them more durable and resistant to side cuts.

Tubeless tires with L. U. S. T. technology have excellent air holding, strong walls and fairly light weight. In the production of bicycle tires using Maxx Protect technology, a special poly-fiber material is placed between the treads and the nylon surfaces of the tires. This design adds significant strength to the tire despite the very thin layer of material.

Varieties

Models of this brand are made for virtually any bike, even for children's types. The products are mainly developed for road and mountain bikes, as these types of tires are most in demand. Also in the assortment you can find 26-inch bicycle tires, although many manufacturers already refuse tires of this diameter (bikes with such tires are used for downhill - extreme mountain races). The Maxxis range of tires for bicycles is extremely wide and varied.

  • Maxxis Minion DH Are the most popular downhill bicycle tires. The wheels have different treads, on the front there are beveled spikes, which contribute to quick acceleration and good grip, and on the rear - bevel, which also help to gain acceleration. The front tire is 2.35 "and the rear 2.5".

A set of such tires weighs about 2 kg, but this weight justifies itself with quality and high reliability.

  • Maxxis Minion DHR used mainly for the rear wheels of bicycles, therefore it is often used on mountain bikes for downhill. These tires have a two-level protection against punctures and tears, the side walls also have double spikes, absolutely excluding side punctures. This tire weighs 1-1.265 kg, which increases traction and braking power, and besides, a bicycle with such tires is very maneuverable when cornering.

The model has two varieties, but the Maxxis Minion DHR-2 itself has improved characteristics of the center and side studs. Such updates contribute to a faster set of speed.

  • Maxxis crossmark used for cross-country cycling or on paved roads. The tread studs have a high density, which gives excellent traction and good roll on flat areas. The side spikes are located just above the center ones, which allows for good control of the bike when cornering. This model is universal for bicycles, which are used both for off-road driving and on asphalt, besides, its weight is small, 640 g.

  • Maxxis DTH differs in a rather wide assortment of tires of different inches, because it is considered universal. The model is suitable for both extreme cycling and simple driving on city roads. Differs in good provision of fast acceleration and grip when cornering. In addition, it is lightweight for easy rolling.

  • Detonator used as a road training tire, it has a double compound (the side rubber is softer, and the main one has the strength of Silkworm material). Such a bicycle tire is very durable, in addition, it is characterized by low weight and an acceptable price.

  • Ikon - The latest technology XC tire. It is based on a triple compound, these materials guarantee excellent rolling, extreme strength and light weight. Plus, the Ikon bike tires are the lightest of all XC-style bike tires.

  • Exo It features reinforced sidewalls that eliminate any side cuts and can be used on both racing bikes and simple off-road riding.

  • High Roller - newly developed, the tires are designed for extreme driving conditions.This model has a fairly significant size and weight, which affects its extreme endurance. The positive aspects of such bicycle tires include good grip and roll, ease of turns and quick braking. The material from which the rubber on the treads is made is very soft, with quite a few edges, which is why even in a humid environment, normal grip occurs. There are additional cuts on the central spines, and the lateral ones are distinguished by a narrow gap.

This feature makes the turn more smooth. In addition, the model has very good grip on roots, rocks and other obstacles, which prevents the bike from sliding on such a road. Other than Maxxis, no other tire manufacturer can boast this feature. The model is sturdy and durable, but it does not lend itself well to inflation.

  • Larsen TT differs in a tough compound, which affects the quality of rolling on asphalt. But on a gravel road, this model will allow you to accelerate to a significant speed. These bike tires are good for turns with rocks or dense mud, but they are not suitable for riding in more fluid environments. This is due to the weak lateral spike, so good grip is only possible on dry surfaces. This model is most suitable for mountain bikes.
  • Maxxis ardent characterized by excellent grip and low rolling resistance. Such tires do not have large dimensions and weight, and are well protected from various punctures. These properties allow them to be used in rather difficult conditions. The model is distinguished by the possibility of very fast braking and instant acceleration during acceleration, which makes it the best option for driving on hilly terrain. The disadvantages of Maxxis Ardent bike tires include the fact that they cannot be used in the rain, they slip, as well as weak adhesion to rocky ledges. The camera is quite puncture resistant as it has a protective layer.

Every Maxxis tire is durable, reliable and extremely high quality, so it will last for years.

How to choose?

When choosing a tire, first of all, you need to pay attention to its purpose. After all, the selection of a set of tires directly depends on the quality of the road. In addition, the new tire must be of a certain size suitable for the bike, which can be seen on the side of the tire. The new model does not have to be the same, but you should not take a very different one in parameters. VIt is also important to take into account the necessary requirements for the tire: grip quality, rolling and braking force. Having formed your wishes, it is worth looking through the characteristics of the Maxxis models and choosing the one you need.

Whatever choice is made, the buyer can be absolutely sure of the highest quality of the brand's products.
