Chestnuts are quite common and very beautiful trees. In the spring they smell sweet with white or pink flowers, and in the fall they delight with the harvest of their fruits. They can be collected in the nearest forest, park, park, botanical garden, or just near private houses on the street and make an interesting craft out of them - a beautiful autumn wreath.

What is required?

You can emphasize the autumn atmosphere with a wreath of any type. It can be a great home decor. And also suitable for decorating vases, entrance and interior doors, they can even be placed in the garden.

For self-fulfillment of the conceived, namely a wreath of chestnuts, you need to stock up on several components.

  • First of all, you need a foundation. Anything can be used as it, for example: straw, branches, cardboard and more.
  • Chestnuts. They are gathered nearby and cleaned of green thorny skins, it is better to select the most beautiful and shiny, not wrinkled.
  • A glue gun or any other glue that will hold the chestnuts well.
  • Decor: bow, braid, cones, rowan and more.
  • Hanging ribbon or string.
  • Brown fabric to trim the base.

How to make a base?

Before you start making crafts in the form of an autumn wreath, it is important to consider a few rules for creating it. The shape of the wreath must be round. The main thing is to correctly calculate the ratio of the outer and inner diameters of the product. The wreath will look ideal when the center hole is half or a third of the size of the entire wreath.

Dark materials of manufacture visually reduce the craft, while light shades of raw materials will visually make the wreath look larger.

We will analyze step by step how to create such a simple and such a spectacular wreath on a door, window, wall, or just for beauty.

First, we will prepare the base, that is, a round part (or oval, or in the shape of a heart, or any other), on which we will subsequently attach chestnuts and other decorative items.

The implementation of this paragraph will depend on what is taken as the basis. For crafts made from natural material, it is worth choosing needles, birch branches, vines, straw. Moreover, they should be quite long, dry and flexible. Brittle and dry branches will deform during operation, so they cannot be used.

If there is no straw or twigs, you can take cardboard and cut out a ring of the desired size from it. Perhaps, for strength, make two or more rings, then glue them together. It is important to pay special attention to this point, since then the entire structure will be attached to the base. Therefore, the ring should be moderately stable and durable, because it depends on how long the wreath will stand, how long it will delight everyone with its appearance.

You can use a paper base, for this you need to collect old newspapers or magazines. Then they are divided into separate sheets and rolled into tubes.

There will be a lot of such blanks, since to create the base they will be layered on top of each other.

We should also mention the wire base. For a wreath, two meters of wire will be enough, which is folded in several layers to form a bundle. After twisting the wreath, the metal cold to the touch can be wrapped with ribbon or twine. By the way, ordinary wire is replaced with old wiring. In this case, you can even use the insulation layer if it remains intact. Then you can not use the decor.

The second point will be to add volume to this future wreath. But you can leave it that way.

Then the ring is neatly covered with brown fabric so that no white gaps are visible and at the end of the work the wreath looks beautiful.

We decorate the prepared base with chestnuts, attaching them close to the ring with any available compositions, forming a semblance of a wreath from them.

At the end, it is worth decorating the chestnut beauty with a bow, preferably red, attach a ribbon, and you can hang it anywhere.

What can you decorate with?

After the first chestnut wreath is made with your own hands, most likely you will want to somehow decorate and diversify it. This can be done in different ways and materials: both natural and any other.

Cones

Cones look organic in tandem with chestnuts. These are also natural raw materials and are ideally suited in color. You can make such crafts from chestnuts with a small inclusion of cones. Or you can draw a certain pattern and, guided by the pattern, form it, alternating fruits.

Acorns

Acorns are the best accompaniment to such creative material as acorns. They are not only in the same color scheme, but also fit in texture. In the process of creating a wreath, you can alternate them as you like (in a checkerboard pattern, some kind of random), or you can make several rows separately from each material.

Other materials

For autumn wreaths, you can use both natural materials and artificial ones.

From natural, these are twigs, including spruce, maple leaves, moss, straws, in general, everything that can be found in the forest or in the meadow. Dried flowers and herbarium leaves are fine too. And also: dried barberry, rowan bunches, nuts.

As for other materials, everything here is only limited by your imagination. Decorating a wreath with a red bow or any other bright color looks very nice. Fits perfectly into the concept of an autumn wreath and various small animal figures. And also various braids, beads, beads, colored paper and so on.

Depending on what materials are chosen for the wreath, the craft will look different. For example, the leaves can be shaped to any shape you want. If you want them to be even, you can first put them in a book or under a press.Drying naturally involves leaving them outdoors. Working with materials such as vines, thin twigs is easier when they are flexible, which can be achieved if they are soaked in water.

As for acorns and cones, as well as other natural raw materials, experts recommend treating them with silicate glue in order to avoid disruption and changes in their shape.

Beautiful examples

To make a beautiful autumn wreath on your own, you need to arm yourself with improvised materials, tools, as well as ideas that can inspire an interesting and unusual craft.

  • This wreath is not only made from chestnuts. Cones, green spruce branches and even deer figurines organically coexist in it. It reminds slightly that the New Year is just around the corner.
  • A chestnut wreath will decorate any door and will tell everyone about the delicate taste of the owner of the home.
  • A brick wall can also be the backdrop for such an art object.
  • You can weave anything into a chestnut wreath, even straw. It looks very nice.
  • Cones, chestnuts, twigs and moss will become beautiful neighbors in an autumn decorative wreath. It can be made together with children, having previously found all these components in the forest or park.
