Wax depilation is rightly considered one of the best inventions of mankind in terms of personal care - thanks to it, young ladies are able to emphasize their own natural beauty quite quickly and with minimal financial costs. Considering that in most cases the procedure is carried out at home on its own, it is necessary to choose the right wax - then the result will be even better.

Peculiarities

The procedure for removing hair using wax for depilation is also called waxing, and although some supporters of the "natural look" of the female body complain that this is a newfangled and imposed standard of beauty, in fact there is evidence that this practice was used in India for about 5 thousand years ago.

The composition of the wax mixture was probably different from the modern one, but the principle of operation was approximately the same. - while the wax is flowing or soft, the skin covered with hair was poured with it, and then, when it became hard, it was removed along with the excess vegetation.

Today, depilation wax almost never lives up to its name - pure natural wax must be diluted with additional ingredients.

For a long time, professional waxing was out of the question - if the young ladies got rid of their hair, then the elastic mass was prepared at home on their own, according to “grandmother's” recipes. It is generally accepted that in its modern form, waxing, and therefore wax for it, was invented in Brazil - a country of beaches, where pants simply would not have been able to hide the "increased hairiness". In 1987, a family of Brazilian immigrants opened the first beauty salon in New York, aimed specifically at depilation, and since then, girls around the world have begun to use razors less and less.

Whichever type of wax you use when doing it at home or in a beauty salon, you should know that waxing is done in four varieties or styles:

  • brazilian full waxing - radical removal of all hair, allows you to wear any kind of underwear without the risk of looking untidy;
  • Brazilian - it is distinguished by an increased refinement of the form, because the hair is not removed by one hundred percent and you can leave an intimate haircut;
  • French - in general, hair is removed only outside the contours of the swimsuit, within its limits the hair is only slightly affected;
  • American - everything that is hidden by a swimsuit is not touched, working only with hair that is visible even when wearing underwear.

Regardless of which style is preferred, waxing remains the most popular method for removing excess hair. At a minimum, it is good because it is popularized on a planetary scale by beauty salons, but in fact it is also available at home. Although it does not solve the problem forever, like the same electrolysis, the result lasts for 3-4 weeks - the same beach season can be closed with three or four simple procedures. Although the waxing styles are tied to the areas of the body hidden by the swimsuit, in fact, the procedure can be done on any part of the body, even including the face.

In terms of value for money, this is by far the best method.

Species overview

Today there are several main types of wax for depilation, which, in turn, can be subdivided into even more subspecies with fewer differences between themselves. You can write a whole book about this, but we will try to delve into all the subtleties briefly, but without omitting important details.

Let us immediately dwell on the fact that variations for home use are easier in everyday use, but because of this, they are not always very effective, while salon samples are very reliable, but involve a more complex procedure for use and may require special knowledge.

Hot

For those who are looking for the most effective and efficient waxing method, we advise you to pay attention to hot wax, although it has one significant drawback: unlike other varieties, in this case, the mass is not advised to be used at home, because only in a beauty salon.

In terms of composition, it is a mixture of natural paraffins, resins, actually beeswax, as well as various fruit extracts and oils, vitamins and other useful components. The substance is sold in a variety of forms, including tablets, bars, briquettes; color can be any: pink, black, and so on, to the taste of the consumer.

As with sugar depilation, the mass requires preheating to melt. Significant heating is required - up to 50-70 degrees, which gave the name to the whole type of such wax. For this purpose, a special device is usually used, which is called a wax melter.

Despite the complexity, the procedure for working with hot wax is considered the most correct in terms of skin care. - being well heated, the mass at the same time steams the skin. The increased temperature opens the pores, and the hair is pulled out more easily - therefore, it is not so painful, and the likelihood of injury is noticeably reduced. Thanks to this, for depilation of armpits and intimate areas, such wax is considered an uncontested solution.

The main danger due to which the use of hot waxing is not recommended at home is the likelihood of overheating the mass and getting a burn.

The likelihood of getting a burn increases also because many ladies do not know how to quickly apply a cooling mass, and therefore “just in case” they warm it up more than required. A professional does this with a special disposable spatula, applying the mixture so that it fills in the smallest folds of the skin and captures absolutely all the hairs. Tearing off the hardened mass when using plasticizing formulations is possible even without additional strips - directly by hand.

After tearing off, some of the wax will remain on the skin, but dirt can be removed with any oil, although some manufacturers offer products that can be washed off with ordinary water. You should not chase the simplicity of withdrawing funds - in most cases this means less effective performance of basic functions.

The high temperature of hot wax, even in the hands of a professional, can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. A clear plus is that the client of the salon at the same time undergoes a paraffin therapy session, and the skin will say "thank you" for this. Another thing is that varicose veins, ailments of an oncological nature, thrombophlebitis and some other health problems, in principle, mean the refusal of any procedures with significant heating of the skin, so that in fact, hot wax is not suitable for everyone.

Warm

This type of depilatory wax is most actively used to remove hair from the legs, as well as the arms and abdomen. Such a mixture melts at a temperature that is equal to the temperature of the human body or slightly higher - usually from 35 to 40 degrees. The key ingredients are natural beeswax, various wood resins, as well as additional components that improve the properties of the mass and provide the skin with proper care.

Due to the fact that melting of the mixture at room temperature is unlikely, it is released in cassettes with a roller attachment. This form is extremely convenient to use, because the cassette can be immersed in warm water to melt the mass, and the nozzle itself can be purchased separately and replaced if the old one is out of order. At the same time, the roller allows you to apply wax to the skin evenly and in a strictly metered amount - which means that the product is not wasted, and the desired result will be achieved.

Some disadvantage of warm wax could be that you still have to wait until it melts, but the procedure for working with it requires preliminary preparation of the skin, which can be done while the mass is warming up. It is necessary to apply the mixture on clean and dry skin, therefore, the area planned for depilation is pre-washed, dried, degreased with antiseptic agents and sprinkled with talcum powder - so the wax will stick only to the hair.

As soon as the warm wax is applied to the skin using a roller, a strip of paper or fabric should be glued on top, smoothing it along the direction of hair growth. Many manufacturers include these strips in a wax kit, but in some cases they are sold separately. When the mixture hardens, the skin must be pulled with one hand, while the other at this time, abruptly tearing off the strip.

After tearing off the strip, part of the wax will inevitably remain on the skin - it is removed with a napkin, which must be soaked in either a special composition or any kind of oil - from cosmetic to vegetable. Your skin will become irritated during the waxing process, so a soothing lotion will do the trick. There are means that, among other things, also slow down hair growth - then the effect will be longer.

Warm wax is actively used both in beauty salons and at home. In the salons, however, they buy it in large cans, which are more profitable from the point of view of wholesale purchase, but the composition of the mass may be no different from that which is packed in smaller dishes.

Warm wax is easy to work with and safe from the point of view of getting burned. Another thing is that the moment of tearing off the strip is quite painful and in the process you can even injure the skin. Moreover, this version of the mixture is considered universal in the sense that it is capable of capturing both fine hairs and hard ones - this technique is not suitable only for sensitive areas, in particular, the bikini area.

Foil

The newest type of wax for depilation, which appeared just a few years ago, combines the best qualities of the two waxes described above - hot and warm. Unlike the first one, it requires heating only up to 38-39 degrees, so most of the contraindications for hot wax do not apply to it. At the same time, the composition is more tenacious than warm wax, therefore it is able to process more hairy parts of the body and capture even coarse hair.

To increase plasticity, vinyl and rubber polymers are added to the mass. Although the melting point is low, a wax melter is also needed to melt. At the same time, the probability of overheating the mixture and getting burns is very low - at least there is no point in this, because cooling with solidification occurs much slower. As a result, the skin steams, albeit softer, but longer, which is also a plus.

Many modern experts believe that it is the novelty that is most relevant from all sides.

It cannot be burned, and its temperature when applied to the skin does not cause any discomfort - only a very slight sensation of warmth. The steaming effect is very noticeable and allows you to get rid of the hairline almost painlessly. Finally, because it cools slowly, film wax can be applied in a very thin layer, which is what gave it its name, and saving consumables means saving money.

Cold

This variety is also often called fusible in another way, because, being in a solid state at room temperature, this substance becomes liquid at the slightest heating - barely warm water or even touching human skin can already melt it. From a chemical point of view, it is an ordinary pine resin with the addition of synthetic substances that increase the stickiness of the mass.

Such products are not available in a can form - you will find wax only in tape form, that is, it has already been applied to fabric strips for depilation. Moreover, not all strips are the same in size and composition - the products are classified by the manufacturers themselves depending on which part of the body it is intended for.

Many manufacturers put in the box not only the strips themselves, but also additional useful "bonuses", such as special wipes for removing wax residues from the skin, a scrub, and a soothing lotion.

The incredible popularity of "cold" wax strips is due to the fact that no special skills or preparations are required from a woman. - the use of the tool turns out to be perfectly simple. All that needs to be done is to separate the strips, which are usually glued together to protect the wax layer from contamination, glue and smooth them, and then tear them off in the opposite direction with a confident movement.

Cold wax works best in areas where the hair is thin, medium in length (no more than half a centimeter) and does not grow too thickly. It is most convenient to use such a tool on small areas of the skin, therefore, with its help, hair is traditionally removed on the fingers and above the upper lip, for the hands and legs it is suitable only if there is very little hair growth there.

The armpits and groin area are usually not depilated like this - quickly soiled, in fact, disposable narrow strips on soft wax will not be able to capture and hold thick hair with deep roots, and it would take too much of them. For the same reason, such wax is ineffective for removing thick hair.

Among other things, the strips are used without first steaming the skin, so they are not used in sensitive areas where it would be too painful.

Popular brands

Young ladies who really care not only about beauty, but also about health, are often interested in those who produce cosmetic products. There are also brands in the cosmetic wax world that look like absolute leaders in both safety, health and marketing. - their products are purchased more often than others and they are preferred by professionals.

A significant part of the segment is predictably occupied by products of Western manufacturers, for example, Italian company ItalWax or French Depileve... Giants like Veet they do not need additional introduction, but there are also a number of brands that deserve attention - for example, Starpil, Depilflax, Shary, Kapous Professional etc.

Wax made in Russia is not particularly popular, unless it is produced under one of the well-known foreign brands.

At the same time, a domestic product is significantly cheaper, and on the recommendation of friends or at your own peril and risk, it is not forbidden to test it on yourself.

How to choose?

The first criterion when choosing a waxing mix is the composition. Remember that almost any of the wax ingredients, including natural wax base, honey, vegetable oils and extracts, can trigger an allergic rash, and you probably don't need to. In addition, choosing the exact recipe should follow the logic of how individual ingredients act on the skin - whether you need to moisturize it, saturate it with vitamins, rejuvenate it, and so on.

For the procedure at home, it is better to take cassette warm or cold wax, while it is better not to experiment with hot - the slightest violation of the procedure can lead to extremely undesirable consequences. For the same reason, you should not try to treat sensitive areas on your own - if only because you need the same hot wax for this.

In any case, carefully read the instructions and adhere to it, especially if you do not have much experience in using such funds.

Although experts often describe wax that is not washed off with water as more effective, you should not rely only on oil when treating large areas of skin - this is inconvenient, and there will not be so much oil in the house, and it will take a long time to wash it off. It is wiser to buy special wipes or spray in advance, or immediately choose a set of wax and means for removing it. At the same time, you can take a remedy that slows down hair growth.

How to use?

We have already talked about how the procedure looks in general in the case of each type of wax, but it is worth clarifying that the exact procedure and duration of each of them may differ from agent to agent. Do not be lazy to read the instructions on the packaging of this particular wax, if you are using it for the first time - it will not hurt.

If you acutely react to any pain, do depilation only in the salon and only with hot wax, or even with lidocaine spray. Remember that even the vaunted hot wax literally pulls hair out of the skin, so irritation and redness in a place that has lost hair is guaranteed at first, and there may even be bruises and bruises. Inflammation and pustules that persist for more than two days already indicate infection from the penetration of foreign substances into the wound, so this is a direct recommendation to consult a doctor.

The wax mass is applied only to clean and dry skin, which should also be powdered, otherwise the bruises may turn out to be huge, and the hair will come out along with the skin. Some areas, such as armpits, are not advised to wash just before depilation - it is better to do this beforehand. If the method involves steaming (all types of waxes except cold), then this is a plus in terms of pain - there will be less of them. Before applying the mass to the skin, be sure to ask yourself the question of how to remove its excess afterwards, and purchase the necessary product if it is not in the kit.

Remember: waxing is effective only if you tear off the strips with sharp and confident movements. By peeling them off little by little, you will not get rid of not only discomfort, but also hair.

Review overview

If you rummage through the women's forums about beauty, many comments may give the impression that wax for depilation and depilation as such is an absolute evil. However, the sales volumes of such products prove that, in fact, not everything is so simple, and the product is in great demand. True, as always in such cases, it is located somewhere in the middle.

It's foolish to lie that waxing doesn't hurt. Even in the case of hot wax, some discomfort is still inevitable, and in the meantime, such a procedure requires a trip to the salon and costs a lot of money. Homemade warm wax or cold strips are much cheaper, but even less enjoyable in the process of using them.

Nevertheless, women want to look beautiful and waxing is perhaps the best way to remove hair in terms of value for money. At prices, only regular shaving is comparable, but it will have to be done much more often, and, in fact, it also has nothing to do with comfort. In the meantime, wax solves the problem for several weeks in advance.
