Becoming a professional tattoo artist is not easy. To do this, you need to be patient, since it takes quite a lot of time to work out each sketch. If you are determined to master this specialty, or are just going to apply stylish jewelry to your skin, first practice drawing tattoos with a pen: this will allow you to master all the basic skills.

Advantages and disadvantages

Pen tattoos are widespread among teenagers... They are performed simply and fairly quickly. All that is needed for this is simply to redraw the sketch you like on leather or paper, and then transfer it to leather. In some cases, the technique of long-term tattooing is used. Then not only gel pens are used, but also a needle, and the tattoo is drawn along the line of skin punctures.

The main advantage of these tattoos is that they are temporary. They are stuffed for a certain period. This allows you to be creative in the selection of the sketch and the area of application. There are other advantages to this technique as well.

  • It doesn't take long to create a tattoo: just one session is enough for this.
  • The procedure is absolutely painless and safe for humans.... You can demonstrate your artwork to others right away: you do not need to wait for the swelling of the skin to subside and the redness to diminish.
  • If something went wrong during the application and wearing of the image, you can always delete the picture.

However, there are also disadvantages:

  • after a certain time, the image on the skin will lose its aesthetic appearance;
  • the need to protect the tattoo from moisture exposure entails limiting contact with water, reducing the frequency and intensity of sports.

Young people usually pick up brutal tattoos, stuffing them on the back, shoulder or forearm. If you are doing a temporary tattoo for the first time, it is advisable to pick up that part of the body that can be covered with clothing if necessary. If the picture is not what you intended, it can be easily hidden from others.

The fairer sex gives preference to more graceful, sophisticated and light plots. They emphasize their tenderness, fragility and femininity. A pen tattoo is applied to the arms, legs, wrist or hand. Consider the most popular and at the same time simple ideas that are used when applying a tattoo with a pen.

Animals

Such images are designed to emphasize the most important traits of a man's character: determination, courage, devotion and a desire to protect their loved ones in any situation. Most often, a wolf, a lion, as well as a bear or an eagle are painted on the skin. At the same time, sketches of animals should be selected especially scrupulously, since ordinary pens cannot always convey the full grace and power of a majestic animal in detail.

Marine

The favorite theme of young boys and adolescents is the sea. That is why they often paint ships and anchors on their skin. Such tattoos personify lightness, mobility, a thirst for adventure and wandering.

Skulls

They invariably look brutal and spectacular on the body of the skull, traditionally they are preferred by rockers and representatives of other subcultures. Such a picture evokes associations with fatalism and is a sign of death. However, this is not always a negative sign. The tattoo is often a reminder that all people are mortal, so you need to appreciate the moments that you live here and now.

Lettering

Body writing is considered a versatile subject for pen tattoos.... They are stuffed by both representatives of the strong half of humanity and women. In body art, such images can be made in Russian, English, as well as in old Latin. In recent years, Chinese characters and Arabic script have been popular. These fonts look particularly impressive.

The topic can be absolutely any: a memorable name, a date or a favorite quote that has become a life leitmotif.

Flowers

Women are very fond of tattoos with floral motives. Flowers look especially beautiful on delicate female skin: orchids, tulips, daisies and roses. Such images are an excellent decorative element. In addition, they emphasize the deep, but at the same time, sensual disposition of the owners of such a tattoo.

Insects

Among young girls, images of insects became widespread: dragonflies, ladybirds and butterflies. They personify flight, lightness, striving for light. The owners of such tattoos show interest in a beautiful, carefree life. Gel pen tattoos depicting these creatures are usually done in color.

Geometric patterns

Geometric patterns look invariably impressive on the body. Such tattoos are done by both men and women, ranging from adolescents to people of mature age. Greek and Nordic ornaments look especially stylish.

Heart

This is the best option for a romantic person. A heart made with a gel pen can become a symbol of love and loyalty to a certain person. Such symbols indicate a person who loves to hover in the clouds and dream of a high feeling.

Which pen should I use?

We immediately note that a cheap ballpoint pen for creating a temporary tattoo is unusable... The image taken with its help will soon begin to blur and will not be able to hold its shape even for several hours.To save your time and energy, you should purchase reliable high quality tools, then problems can subsequently be avoided.

It is best for a beginner tattoo artist to use a gel pen. If you are accustomed to ball-point models, then the best option would be a writing agent with a thin rod: it will leave a clear, perfectly even mark on the skin. As for the color scheme, it directly depends on the plot. At first, it makes sense to practice on monochrome patterns, and then move on to multitonal ones.

Instead of a handle, you can use cosmetic pencil. Moreover, their variety is much greater than that of pens. Eyeliner, lip liner and eyebrow pencil will work well for novice tattoo artists.

If you want to get a quality drawing that will last at least a few days, get a waterproof model from L “Oreal, Avon or Maybelline.

The use of markers is a very serious decision. The assortment of these products is diverse: you can use everything from felt-tip pens to professional tools to create a tattoo. The more powerful the marker, the longer the temporary tattoo will last on the skin. The most durable image is obtained with the help of a permanent composition: such a tattoo cannot be erased by accident, and if you want to get rid of it, you will have to work hard.

In addition to a pen, in the work on creating temporary tattoos you will need:

  • any simple pencil;
  • tracing paper or plain thin paper;
  • cotton pads.

How to draw a tattoo?

Let us dwell in more detail on the technique of creating temporary tattoos with a pen at home. First of all, you need to pay attention to the preparation of the skin. It includes several procedures:

  1. first take a hot bath with peels and skin scrubs;
  2. if there is even small vegetation on the desired area, depilate;
  3. immediately before starting work, wipe the skin with an alcohol-containing napkin: this will degrease the area and remove the remaining sweat.

If you do not pay attention to such manipulations, the drawing will lie unevenly and will turn out to be blurry. Such an image will not last long.

To create a temporary tattoo with a pen, it is advisable to choose an area that does not come into contact with clothing. Otherwise, the pattern will be subject to constant friction and discoloration quickly.

Special attention should be paid to the preparation of the instrument. Treat the tip of the pen with which you will apply the image in advance with alcohol. Disinfection will minimize the risk of infection in the event that wounds appear on the skin.

A temporary tattoo with a pen can be filled in two ways.

The first method includes several step-by-step steps.

  1. Prepare a stencil for your tattoo. Find a drawing you like and transfer it to paper using a simple pencil.
  2. Shade the resulting sketch with a gel pen... The outline of the drawing on paper must be filled in as quickly as possible, it is very important not to let the ink dry out.
  3. Transfer the sketch to the body. To do this, the tracing paper is tightly pressed against the skin and held for 20-30 seconds. You need to act quickly, but very carefully, otherwise the contours of the image may be smeared.
  4. The next step is to correct the drawing. First you need to outline the sketch along the contour, and then start hatching. It is important that the pattern does not change its shape and size.
  5. At the final stage, it is necessary to work out all the small elements of the image. For this, details are carefully marked with pens of different shades: black, blue, red and green.

Some online sources recommend applying hairspray to your skin to secure your image. In fact, it is not necessary to do this: such processing leads to cracking of the picture and, accordingly, the loss of its aesthetic appearance.After applying the image, all that is needed is to simply dry the treated area.

The second method involves puncturing the top layer of the skin with a sharp needle. This technique cannot be called absolutely painless. Nevertheless, it is much softer than the punctures of the skin with a real tattoo. In this case, special attention must be paid to sterility: both the skin and the needle should be treated with alcohol.

Next, the following actions are performed.

  1. To begin with, as in the first case, the sketch you like is applied to thin paper.
  2. After that, you need to redraw it onto the skin. For this, shallow punctures are formed with a needle, gel ink should be slowly injected thereafter. To fix the color along each line, you need to walk the pen 2-3 more times.
  3. Let the ink dry for a couple of minutes, then rub off any excess gel with alcohol.
  4. At the end of the work, treat the puncture sites with an antiseptic again.

Please note that the punctures must be shallow. Otherwise, you will get a real tattoo and it will be very difficult to get it out. Punctures should be given time to heal; on the first day, it is not recommended to touch and wet them. If a crust appears on the surface, let it dry and fall off naturally; you should not tear it off. The drawing made in the first way will last 2-3 days. The gel, injected under the skin, will retain the brightness of the colors from a week to a month.

To get rid of the temporary image, you need to remember in what technique it was made. For a small tattoo done with the first method, plain soap and water will suffice. In the second case, you will need any solvent: you can buy it in a repair shop or cosmetic department.

We also remind you that applying a tattoo with a pen neatly is only half the battle. It is extremely important to properly care for the pattern. If you follow all the care tips, the sketch will stay on the skin for as long as possible.

  • Do not expose the temporary image to moisture and steam, especially in the first couple of days after filling.
  • Before taking a shower in the bathroom or going to the sauna need to secure imagesby lubricating them with any vegetable oil or petroleum jelly. A liquid adhesive plaster is a good solution: it covers the temporary tattoo with a durable film and thereby creates effective protection.
  • Do not use alcohol-based tonics, scrubs, or peels on the tattooed area. It is undesirable to rub it with a washcloth.

Temporary tattoos made at home with a pen are very popular. They help you stand out from the crowd and cheer you up. If you properly look after the image, the drawing will look fresh and bright for a long time. But as soon as the tattoo begins to lose its decorative appearance, it is advisable to remove it completely.

Such a decoration invariably attracts the eyes of others, and therefore it should look perfect.
