Tapered skirt - playfulness in the details
Tapered skirts have become very popular today. They fit the waist tightly, and then smoothly expand downward. Depending on the type of skirt, the mobility and expansion of the model changes.
The tapered skirt has a special cutting technique that allows you to create a huge number of models. The main emphasis is always on the number of vertical seams, depending on this, three subtypes are distinguished: two-seam, single-seam and seamless.
Who are they suitable for?
The tapered skirt is comfortable and practical. She looks very beautiful and elegant. This style will help create a unique look, stand out from the crowd. The cut of the skirt is universal, because it fits perfectly on any type of figure.
Styles
There are several types of tapered skirts:
- Skirt sun can be seamless or single-seam. This cut allows you to choose this product for every woman, regardless of the type of figure, because in the sewing of this type, lightweight fabrics are used that can be easily draped.
- Half-sun skirt is often a single-suture pattern. This look in many ways resembles a skirt the sun, but the difference is that the volume of the product is much smaller, so in such a skirt the hip circumference looks more attractive. Often this type is sewn on an elastic band, which allows you to independently choose its placement - on the hips or at the waist.
- Bell skirt - This is a two-seam model with a wide belt that fits the hips and looks like a flared model from top to bottom. Basically, fashion designers use dense fabrics, because only they are able to keep the shape of the bell. They often choose linen, cotton, wool or leather.
- Flared skirt very popular because it allows you to create a contrast between a thin waist and lush hips. The flared model is sewn from different materials: leather, linen, chiffon, brocade, taffeta, etc.
Fabrics and colors
This season, designers offer skirts with floral prints, as well as models decorated with geometric shapes or large checks. The most popular colors are black or red, although you can choose your favorite shade.
Designers use the appropriate fabric to maintain their shape. An excellent solution would be silk, cotton, leather, linen or taffeta.
Drawing, pattern building and sewing stages
It is better to design a skirt first on paper so as not to spoil the fabric, because something may go wrong. A half-sun skirt will be used as an example.
The main stages of building a drawing of a canonical skirt:
- To begin with, at the top of the sheet, you need to mark a horizontal line and mark its center with point A, from which you should draw a perpendicular to the desired length downwards.
- To determine the waist line on the product, it is necessary to draw a distance from point A in both directions and downward, which is determined by the following formula: half the waist circumference + 6 centimeters. The point below is denoted by T, and on the sides - B and L.
- You need to connect three dots to make half a circle.
- Further, from points T, L and B, you should measure the distance, which is equal to the length of the product and call them points G (below), N and C (on the sides). Connect the new three points in a semicircle.
After creating the drawing, you can proceed to preparing the fabric.
So that the fabric does not lose its appearance, it is necessary to perform several simple actions with it:
- First you need to take a small piece of material and soak it in hot water for 30 minutes to check if the material is shedding. If the water has not changed color, then the fabric can be used further.
- Now the entire fabric should be soaked in water for up to four hours, which can be cool or hot, depending on the composition. A dense cloth can be spread on a flat surface and thoroughly moistened with water using a spray bottle. In this way, shrinkage of the fabric after washing the finished skirt can be prevented.
- The material must be dried and spread vertically to prevent stretching.
- It remains to iron the material through cheesecloth.
Skirt cutting consists of several stages:
- Gently transfer the pattern to the fabric.
- You need to cut the fabric along the lines that go through the letters.
- Add one centimeter around the entire perimeter for the future seam and cut.
Before sewing a skirt, you first need to make a belt. To make a belt five centimeters wide, you need to take a strip of fabric twelve centimeters wide, and the length will be calculated using the formula: half the waist circumference + 7 centimeters.
- The entire strip from the seamy side should be glued with a special tape.
- Using an overlock or zigzag stitch, sew the edges of the girdle along the entire length.
- Now it is necessary to connect the product on the sides, while one centimeter will go into the allowance.
After that, you can proceed to sewing a tapered skirt:
- First, you need to glue the adhesive tape on both sides of the semicircle, which shows the waistline. Its size will be the size of a zipper + 2 centimeters.
- Then you need to process the edges and sew between each other from the bottom to the top of the side, which connects the semicircle of the bottom and waist. In this case, it is worth leaving a certain gap to the waist line untouched, it will be equal to the length of the zipper.
- Next, you need to sew in a zipper.
- Iron the back seam thoroughly with an iron.
- The bottom of the product must be processed using a machine, overlock or manually.
It remains only to sew the belt to the product:
- It is necessary to retreat three centimeters from the edge of the belt, the entire remaining length must be divided into two equal parts.
- Connect the middle of the skirt with the middle of the belt with the right side, and sew.
- Three centimeters allows you to create a loop on the left side, the diameter of which will be 2 millimeters larger than the diameter of the button. Then we sew on the button on the other side.
Selection Tips
- You need to be careful when choosing a skirt length. For girls with slender legs, a short cut is suitable. For obese women, you should choose the length of the midi or maxi, while you need to select shoes only with high heels.
- If a girl suffers from excessive thinness, then a tapered skirt will help hide this flaw. It is worth paying attention to long models, but flaring can be anything.
- For overweight girls, a tapered skirt is the best option, because it allows you to hide plump hips, and also emphasizes the waistline.
What to wear with?
The choice of the top depends on the colors of the bottom. If the skirt is made of a solid material, then it is worth choosing blouses in a bright color. They can be decorated with frills or ruffles, with hands on with lanterns. Monochromatic T-shirts decorated with stylish patterns are also harmoniously combined with a tapered skirt.
A textured skirt looks great with a discreet top. A fitted blouse made of lightweight fabric with a short jacket will help create a delightful look. The emphasis should be on a skirt or blouse, so the silhouette will look stylish.
A tapered skirt can be of any color or texture to create a business look, but a blouse should be presented only in a strict color. Depending on the upper and shoes, you can dress stylishly for a walk, a party or for every day.
