Layered and tiered skirts
Since the Middle Ages, every self-respecting fashionista has a tiered skirt in her wardrobe. True, these days the style and length of some models have changed significantly, but, nevertheless, such skirts always remain in trend.
A bit of history
They appeared in the everyday life of Spanish women in the 16th century, then very quickly spread throughout Europe, and then around the world. Moreover, at first they were worn not only by women, but also by men. But, apparently, the latter could not withstand the competition with the weaker sex in the struggle for such an exquisite item of clothing.
The first multi-layer skirts were stuffed with horsehair, but because of their weight it was difficult to move around. Then, to add splendor, they began to use more layers, which sometimes reached 10. The topmost layer was made of lace or silk, decorated with embroidery.
In the future, for more comfortable wearing, instead of a large number of layers, they began to use a whalebone, which kept its shape and had a low weight.
What are they sewn from?
Nowadays, a huge variety of models have appeared, made from various materials. Tulle skirts are very popular. The texture of the fabric is able to give the image lightness and airiness, and pastel colors will give the model tenderness and grace.
Flying skirts made of cotton and linen are very pleasant to the touch, they are comfortable in them in the hot season, they do not hinder movement. A variety of ruffles and frills can serve as decoration of such skirts.
Knitted skirts are also in demand, and for good reason. Models made of angora and wool can be decorated with voluminous patterns; it is difficult to freeze in them in the cold season. And in spring and summer, crocheted openwork products will add coquetry and playfulness to the image.
How long are they?
Layered skirts vary in style and length.
Maxi
They are suitable for all women, regardless of the type of figure and complexion, add femininity and elegance. It is only important not to be mistaken with the style and color.
Holders of full thighs should avoid wide layers and uniformity. It is better to choose bright shades with different tier widths. This will hide the flaws in the figure, and focus on the contrast of colors.
Midi
A knee-length skirt is perhaps the most versatile length. Previously, this length was considered rather boring, but modern women of fashion have proven the opposite.
A multi-layered skirt with a high waist will ideally hide all flaws in the "inverted triangle" type of figure and favorably highlight the proportions of the silhouette, making the thin waist visually slimmer. A fluffy skirt will add the necessary volume to narrow hips.
Mini
It is hard to argue with the fact that among all the models of skirts, it is the mini-skirt that takes the first place in sexuality. With the help of the style of the skirt, you can visually lengthen and make the already beautiful legs more slender. And thanks to the layering, when a shorter layer is superimposed on the lower layer, you can look very extravagant.
But in order not to appear stupid in the mini, you need to follow simple rules:
- Rule 1. Mini can only be worn by girls with slender legs. Unfortunately, owners of O- or X-shaped legs should better take a closer look at light flying skirts of maximum length, which sometimes look much more successful than mini ones.
- Rule 2. If you go to a place where you may have to bend over, you should also not wear a mini, so as not to please the men around you with a demonstration of their underwear. In this case, it is better to do with short shorts.
- Rule 3. If you decide to wear a mini-skirt, then you should not wear too deep a neckline, otherwise the number of open areas of the body in this case will go beyond all acceptable limits of decency.
How to wear tiered skirts for overweight women?
Overweight girls should avoid static in the design of skirts; alternating narrow and wide tiers would be ideal options. You can also use a variety of symmetrical patterns on some tiers, this will add playfulness and will not focus on the flaws of the figure.
Particular attention should be paid to the yoke - on wide hips, it is important. In no case should you end it at the widest point - this will visually add a few centimeters in the girth of the hips. It is better to choose a border slightly higher, then the contrast of the layers will "eat" the width of the hips.
What to wear with?
It is best to wear a floor-length skirt with a blouse, top or jacket. Of the jewelry, massive bijouterie, wide bracelets are perfect. You can also play with accessories - for example, using a scarf made of lightweight fabric. On the feet - shoes without heels, for example, ballet flats or classic pumps.
The tiered midi will look elegant and feminine with high heels. For the top, a top or a thin turtleneck is a good choice. This will accentuate the waist. It will be possible to complement the image with a jacket or a fur vest, but the latter is better to wear if the skirt is not very voluminous.
When wearing a multi-layered mini, you should adhere to minimalism in the entire image - from makeup to accessories. For the top, a free-cut top or a blouse with ruffles and frills is perfect. Sandals or sandals will look great on your feet.
Using a tiered skirt in your wardrobe, you can always look stylish, bright, modern and sophisticated, regardless of the weather and environment.
