Once upon a time, not everyone could afford things made of fabric such as corduroy. But these times have sunk into oblivion, and now almost everyone has clothes made of this popular fabric, regardless of gender, age, material status and occupation.

Corduroy is a dense fabric that is comfortable in the cool season. It is made of cotton, so wearing it is comfortable and pleasant, it practically does not wrinkle. For this reason, this material can be regarded as one of the best for sewing skirts.

Corduroy is very diverse in textures. For example, corduroy-cord is a fabric with ribs about 5 mm wide, skirts made of it look very harmonious in a retro style. Corduroy with ribs up to 3 mm and low pile looks very dense, although it is made of fine yarn - it is very difficult to freeze in winter in such skirts. Elastic stretch velvet and distressed velveteen are ideal for tight skirts such as the pencil model. They can be smooth and fleecy, plain or with an embossed volumetric pattern.

Today corduroy is available in completely different colors. But, since this fabric, due to its various textures, is beautiful in itself, it is mainly in restrained tones and without prints.

In general, skirts made of this material have a lot of advantages - they are not wrinkled and not easily soiled, they are very cozy and warm. And, even though corduroy is a rather dense material, it adds a special charm and femininity to the look.

The corduroy skirt can be of completely different styles - tight mini and straight "pencil", elegant tulip skirts and feminine godets. Even a sun skirt can be made from this fabric, but not too dense, so as not to weigh the model down.

Light summer clothes do not fit with a corduroy skirt, because texture contrast is too noticeable. But if you can match the upper with a material similar to corduroy, such a union is welcome.

For all its charm, a corduroy skirt has one significant drawback - in order for it to serve for a long time, it needs to be seriously looked after. Since corduroy is a natural fabric, after washing it can significantly shrink. Therefore, it must be washed at a temperature of no more than 30 degrees, in the hand wash mode without spinning. If possible, you need to replace the washing powder with gel.

After washing, you need to wring out the skirt and dry it by hanging it away from heating appliances. Iron the skirt, preferably slightly under-dried, from the wrong side. Ideally, use a steamer.
