Modern toothbrush holders are extremely variable both in materials of manufacture, and in shapes, and in decorativeness, and functional in details. They can look like an ordinary stand, a funny figurine (a robot, a ladybug, an elephant, a monkey, and others) or as an unusual creative object. Their main function and requirements for them, on the whole, remain the same.

Peculiarities

The functionality of toothbrushes, as an objectively necessary quality, is provided by:

  • conditions of their storage;

  • maintaining a high degree of purity of the villi (without getting water on them);

  • safe storage.

From the standpoint of personal hygiene, it is recommended to store toothbrushes in separate cases so that their villi do not become an accumulation of pathogenic flora. However, in life, such a recommendation of dentists is rarely fulfilled; usually, brushes are stored in specially designated glasses. And here everything is not so elementary - it is not easy to find a suitable container for storing a dental instrument.

The market offers in this regard are endless, therefore, for the right choice, you need a number of clear and unambiguous criteria, as well as a clear classification of these accessories. Among their varieties, for a start, let's highlight the main types:

  • suspended;

  • desktop;

  • individual containers.

We will also deal with the pros and cons of each individual species.

Varieties

Holders are structurally divided into 2 types.

  1. Classic fixtures, made of combined plates, equipped with special slots for accommodating accessories. We also include products in the form of cases here.

  2. Decorative - combining both the functionality of the object and its decorative effect.The most common products are in the form of vivid figures of animals, insects and cartoon characters.

For large families, products are produced with several grooves for a different number of brushes (usually from one to six). There are also options with recesses to accommodate the razor.

Hanging glasses - products with brackets for hanging on the wall. A great wall-mounted option to save space on shelves and nightstands. At the same time, it is worth choosing such a model so that it is convenient to wash it without dismantling the entire assembly.

The best view will be accessories that are attached to the wall with suction cups or self-tapping screws. Containers are inserted into them, which can be freely removed for cleaning.

It is important to remember that the suction cups are excellently attached to glass, plastic or tiled surfaces, but are not suitable for other finishing methods. Here you will not be able to do without a rigid fastening with self-tapping screws or screws.

Suction cups made of rubber are elementary to use, but they are worse attached to the wall than self-tapping screws. The assembly can easily fall off the wall, especially if it is used not only for toothbrushes, but also for packages of paste.

The bracket is securely attached to the wall with self-tapping screws, but this method is somewhat more complicated during installation. However, for a man, this work will not be difficult.

Tabletop containers are used to accommodate both brushes (including electric ones) and packages with pastes. Place them on open shelves or sinks. As a rule, such models are produced with a wide base, which prevents the product from overturning.

The simplest option is a glass or bowl on stands, where objects are inserted, but this design is not entirely hygienic. Of course, it will be better if the glass is equipped with a lid with slots for toothbrushes. In this case, the brushes will be fixed in a separate position so that they do not come into contact with each other. The number of slots in the lids should be appropriate for the family composition.

Sometimes slots for tubes are provided in the lids of containers. All the necessary items are stored in one place, which is convenient - a whole dental organizer. The color scheme can be different - black, white and any other.

Selected holder types are sold in a set with a dispenser that automatically dispenses a portion of the paste at the touch of a button. These options are kid-friendly.

Wall-mounted holders of individual type, fixed by means of suction cups. Due to the small load (one brush), they are relatively firmly adhered to the wall. The advantage is that the brushes do not touch each other. The models are distinguished by their constructive variety and various designs. There are also magnetic ones, but they must be checked for reliability. Children's versions can be performed in the form of popular cartoon characters, adults differ in serious versions from the classics. Each person living in the apartment has his own style, and it is quite difficult to confuse the holders.

This method is one of the most hygienic, but such products require space, especially if the family is large. It is suitable for large bathrooms, as well as for residents of communal apartments.

The issue of environmental friendliness and harmlessness of storage of accessories is of paramount importance here. It is from this point of view that we will consider other types of cups, as well as the materials for their manufacture.

Holders are produced from:

  • plastic;

  • metals;

  • silicone and porcelain;

  • ceramics and rubber;

  • acrylic and glass.

For the most part, glass accessories are produced in refractory versions, with a thickness of at least 5 mm. Products with corrugated and matte surfaces look great. The choice of such devices is extremely large - they are made in transparent, engraved and multi-colored forms.

Ceramics does not lag behind in this sense either: products that are graceful in shape and durable in execution can be performed with intricate and unusual patterns. Ceramic containers have proven themselves excellently in rooms with high humidity.

The most democratic designs of containers proved to be plastic cups. These products of various configurations and colors have quite an acceptable cost.

Metal products are the most durable, they will perfectly complement high-tech bathrooms. Metallic models can be austere and elegant, with different decor. They are made of steel (with the addition of chromium), aluminum and other metals.

Criterias of choice

When choosing accessories, it is important to consider:

  • the degree of their environmental safety;

  • the ability to easily wash off (ease of care);

  • the presence of spacers for brushes by position;

  • wear resistance level;

  • compactness;

  • number of holes for accessories;

  • age criterion;

  • the degree of presentability and the level of compliance with the overall design.

The aesthetic functions of the holders are no less important. We are talking about maintaining the overall concept of the interior style and its addition, since they "in combination" carry the functions of accessories for the arrangement and decoration of bathrooms, as well as the division of fixtures by age.

Thus, when choosing accessories, one should focus on the complex of their characteristics - external design, functionality, practicality, physical and operational qualities. The shelves of retail outlets are replete with different containers for brushes: oval, round, with abstract patterns, with or without lids.

When choosing accessories, we also take into account the materials of their manufacture. Here, the selection criteria are strength, durability and long service life. Others - issues of hygiene and practicality.

For children, it is more advisable to select products made of silicone or plastic, devices made of funny figures. They are usually lightweight and will not injure a child if they fall. The texture of such materials allows the manufacture of more intricate and bright models. Their disadvantage is the rapid contamination due to the porosity of the materials. For this reason, plastic accessories should be treated with antiseptics on a regular basis. It should be borne in mind that plastic products are recommended to be changed after six months of use.

The disadvantages of plastic cups include their short service life. They quickly scratch, losing their trade look.

Glass and porcelain is another matter, and such products look more spectacular. Although they are fragile, with careful handling they will last a long time, retaining their original appearance.

Metal accessories are best purchased for classic or nautical bathroom styles. They are discreet, although somewhat cumbersome. Their advantage lies in the density of the materials, which is not conducive to the growth of bacteria.

Metal accessories are sold less frequently. More often, different fragments are produced from metal - brackets, fasteners, decor. Nevertheless, it is often these cups that look great in interiors.

Self-made holders can also look worthy, which are decorated according to their own preferences. In addition, it is easy to make changes to their appearance at any time.

Such a stand is easily made from various objects, for example, from a plastic bottle as a base. You can decorate it with anything, except, perhaps, permeable materials. You can make jewelry from:

  • river pebbles;

  • seashells;

  • painting with acrylic paints;

  • beads, rhinestones and sequins.

You will need:

  • medium bottle;

  • scissors;

  • small pebbles;

  • glue gun and lighter.

Sequencing:

  • cut off the upper part of the container with scissors;

  • we melt its upper edges with a lighter;

  • we glue pebbles (or other decorations) to the walls of the glass at our own discretion.

Everything is simple and economical - it is suitable as a temporary option.
